HOSPICE CARE

We take the worries off families so they can enjoy the time they have with their loved ones. Know this, it is not our burden but rather, it is our passion. We’re here to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

WHAT IS HOSPICE CARE?

Hospice care is end-of-life care provided by a team of health care professionals and volunteers. Hospice care provides expert pain management, symptom control, personal care, psychosocial support and spiritual support to patients and families when a cure is not possible. All the necessary medicines and equipment needed to keep a patient comfortable can be brought right to the home, which is where most people would like to be if at all possible. Hospice makes this happen.

WHAT ABOUT PATIENT’S NEEDS?

The goal of Hospice care is to help people who have a life-limiting illness maintain peace, comfort and dignity. The Hospice team controls pain and other symptoms so a person can remain as alert and comfortable as possible.

BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT HOSPICE CARE
  1. Hospice provides help and support 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week to the patient and family.
  2. Hospice provides pain and symptom comfort care rather than curative treatments.
  3. Hospice treats the person, not the disease.
  4. Hospice care is provided wherever the patient may be: in their own home, a family member’s home, a nursing home, an assisted living facility, a board and care, and other facilities.
HOW CAN I RECEIVE HOSPICE CARE?

You, a family member, or authorized caregiver, can ask the doctor to contact Valley’s Best Hospice. We are also able to contact the patient’s doctor on their behalf to discuss care.

AM I OR MY FAMILY MEMBER COPING?

Coping with a serious or life-limiting illness is not easy. In fact, it might be the hardest work you’ll ever do. Working with doctors and hospitals, navigating the maze of health care needs, figuring out insurance coverage, all in addition to taking care of your family can be overwhelming. Valley’s Best Hospice wants our community to know that there’s help.

WHO PAYS FOR HOSPICE CARE?

Valley’s Best Hospice accepts Medicare, Medi-Cal, private insurance, and other forms of reimbursement for Hospice care for patients who meet certain criteria. Since we accept Medicare and Medi-Cal as 100% coverage for our services, there are no out-of-pocket expenses for patients and/or their families for services related to the terminal diagnosis.
